We had a rolling pin. We didnt need a new one. It was perfectly good. We rarely used it because I can never get things evenly flat. My sister mentioned this rolling pin (shes the star baker in our family-she even made our wedding cake) and I pondered over it and lusted after it for…honestly, about eighteen months. Its pricey, we already had one, we didnt need one, I’m trying to become more minimalist (ish). Eventually I decided to treat myself. Its been a revelation. I have used it as much in the last few months as I used my previous one in the whole time I had it. You just unscrew the caps to make it down to the height you want to roll to, and then away you go, perfectly flat and even every time. I guess if you were icing a big cake and needed a huge flat piece of marzipan or icing you wouldnt be able to use it because you can only roll something as wide as the pin, but then you could just take all the ends off and use it like a normal riolling pin. And if youre doing that kind of fancy work you probably know how to roll without assistance so you probably dont need this anyway. I think I would have preferred if the middle were something other than wood, it looks nice but I feel like it sticks to things a wee bit more than a smoother material. But then its sustainable and Im pro sustainability… 5 stars.
